R4 Capital, a national affordable housing syndicator, was founded in 2011 by its President and CEO, Marc Schnitzer and the Regis Group, a 60-year-old, London-based, privately-held, residential property investment firm.

2015
In just four years since inception, R4 reached its first $1 billion in LIHTC equity.

2016
R4 Capital launched R4 Capital Funding, a tax-exempt lending business providing mortgage capital for affordable multifamily housing properties. R4 Servicer was created to deliver dedicated, responsive loan servicing for R4’s investments.

2019
$1 billion in tax-exempt debt closed by R4CF three years after launch.

2021
Forward Housing, an affiliate of R4 Capital, was established to specialize in the acquisition, rehabilitation, and preservation of affordable housing.

2024
R4 Capital’s growing $10 billion LIHTC equity and debt portfolio includes 566 properties distributed throughout 49 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., and territories representing approximately 68,000 units of affordable housing.

R4’s creative and strategic team of 99 full-time employees are based across New York, Boston, Newport Beach, and Austin.
