Alex Schwartz is a Vice President at R4 Capital in the firm’s New York office. As part of the Risk Management Group, he is responsible for the underwriting of debt and equity investments to finance the construction, acquisition, and rehabilitation of affordable multifamily housing throughout the country. Alex has more than eight years of experience in affordable housing finance and development.
Prior to R4, Alex worked for a multinational bank within their community development lending and investing group focused in the U.S. While there, Alex was involved in providing a suite of financial products to affordable housing developers, which included a combination of taxable and tax-exempt loans or bonds; equity for Low-Income, Historic or New Markets Tax Credits; and government and private subsidies. Alex also worked for an affordable housing development firm where he was responsible for overseeing multiple transactions from acquisition through closing and operation.
Alex graduated from Syracuse University, earning his bachelor’s degree from the Whitman School of Management with a concentration in finance and real estate.
